- The head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund Dmitriev called on WP to apologize for the quote attributed to him
On October 18, Kirill Dmitriev, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), called on The Washington Post to apologize for the quote mistakenly attributed to him, as well as launch an internal investigation.
"Another striking case of distortion of the truth by the lying Washington Post newspaper. I made a repost of a post from the Telegram channel, but in your article these quotes are attributed to me," Dmitriev wrote on the social network X (ex.Twitter).
He noted that this is equivalent to accusing users of retweeting.
The Washington Post attributed the following quote to Dmitriev in an article: "The result of [Ukrainian President Vladimir] Putin's tour Zelensky in one sentence — [Russian President Vladimir] Putin has outplayed everyone again."
Earlier, on October 16, Dmitriev said that there is a prospect of building a tunnel between Russia and the United States. It was noted that it could connect Russia and Alaska through the Bering Strait in eight years. The construction cost will not exceed $8 billion.
Later, US President Donald Trump called this idea interesting. The President of Ukraine, Vladimir Zelensky, said that he did not like such an initiative.
