Moscow court extends arrest of stand-up comedian Artemy Ostanin
A Moscow court has extended the arrest of stand-up comedian Artemy Ostanin (listed as a terrorist and extremist in the Russian Federation) in a hate speech case. The relevant information is indicated in the court's materials on October 18.
According to the information reviewed by RIA Novosti, the court granted the request to extend Ostanin's arrest. It is clarified that the defense of the accused has already appealed this decision.
Ostanin's arrest while trying to leave Russia became known on March 18. According to the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, he is suspected of committing a crime under paragraph "a" of Part 2 of Article 282 of the Criminal Code ("Incitement of hatred or enmity, as well as humiliation of human dignity").
Later, during the interrogation, Ostanin apologized for his speech.
