The resumption of flights between Russia and Myanmar is in the final stages of preparation, and the route may be extended to Moscow. Dmitry Petrovsky, Executive Director of the Russian-Myanmar Business Council, announced this on October 18.

According to him, "active work is underway, and flights will be resumed." The possibility of extending the route that previously connected Yangon, Mandalay and Novosibirsk to the Russian capital is being considered.

"This will make it possible to better unlock the tourism and business potential of Myanmar, a country that is not yet fully integrated into Russian business ties," Petrovsky told RIA Novosti.

He clarified that the flights are planned to be operated by the national airline Myanmar Airways International, as before the suspension of flights. The exact dates for the resumption have not yet been determined, however, according to a representative of the council, "flights usually open during the tourist season."

Earlier, on April 23, it was reported that flights between Russia and Myanmar were suspended due to low flight load and the effects of the earthquake. This was reported by Stanislav Taravkov, Commercial Director of Tolmachevo Airport. According to him, the cancellation of flights was a necessary measure, despite the support of the route from Russian airports and travel companies.
