Trump announced the release of former Congressman Santos from prison

US President Donald Trump has announced that he has signed a decree on the release from prison of former Congressman George Santos. He wrote about this on October 17 in his Truth Social network.

"George Santos was a kind of 'apostate,' but there are many apostates in our country who are not forced to serve seven years in prison. <...> I have just signed a commutation of sentence, immediately releasing George Santos from prison," the publication says.

It is noted that Santos was sentenced to seven years in prison for embezzlement of donations from his supporters, illegal receipt of unemployment benefits and a number of other crimes. However, due to the support of the US Republican Party, regardless of what is happening, he, in the opinion of the American leader, deserved a pardon.
