Portuguese racer Jorge Brandau was killed at the rally of Morocco
Portuguese motorcycle racer Jorge Brandau died during the final, fifth stage of the rally of Morocco. This was reported on October 17 by Mundo Deportivo.
According to the organizers, the tragedy occurred on the 214th km of the highway passing through the dunes around the town of Erfoud.
"Motorcyclist Jorge Brandau, who participated in the race for the second time, fell in the dunes. He was promptly transported by medical helicopter to the Erfuda Hospital, where, unfortunately, he died," the rally management said.
The athlete was 47 years old, he represented the Old Friends Rally Team. Previously, Brandau took part in the Dakar rally, where he acted as the navigator of Spaniard Carlos Vento in the buggy class.
Earlier, on October 12, racing driver Artur Senkovsky died in Poland at the stage of the national rally championship in Nys. His BMW car went off the highway and crashed into a tree, after which it caught fire. The driver died on the spot, and his navigator was taken to the hospital with burns.
