Germany reminds Hungary of the Rome Statute
Hungary must comply with its obligations under the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court (ICC), which has issued an arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin. This was announced on October 17 by German Foreign Minister Joseph Hinterseer amid preparations for the summit of the Russian Federation and the United States in Budapest.
"In principle, Hungary is a state party to the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court, but it announced its withdrawal in April 2025. However, this will take effect only one year later, that is, one year after the official announcement... Thus, in principle, this still leaves Hungary with the obligation to follow what it has undertaken in accordance with the Rome Statute," RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.
