Russians will receive an additional pension payment for seniority if they take the initiative to introduce the status of "Veteran of labor activity." This was announced on October 17 by Ilya Mosyagin, assistant to the State Duma deputy and senior lecturer at the Institute of International Economic Relations.

As the Newspaper reminded.Ru", at the end of September, the leader of the Liberal Democratic Party Leonid Slutsky proposed to give the status of veterans of labor activity to Russians who have worked for more than 30 years and pay them an additional 10,000 rubles for retirement.

"Currently, Russian legislation lacks a single incentive mechanism for a long work history, which leads to significant inequality among pensioners from different regions. The proposed status is intended to remedy this situation," Mosyagin said in an interview with the publication.

He added that the initiative was announced at a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, who responded positively to the proposal. According to Mosyagin, this allows us to count on the introduction of the status with moderate optimism.

The main difficulties are related to the burden on the budget and the need to find a balance between supporting one group of pensioners and being fair to others, the economist noted.

Earlier, on September 13, Senator Natalia Koshikhina said that parental leave in Russia is counted in the length of service, thereby preserving the right to a future pension. She explained that pension points earned during maternity leave are added to those already accumulated for work and directly affect the final pension amount.
