The Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation is studying the issue of introducing post-payment for parking sessions. This is stated in the message of Deputy Minister Alexei Shilo in response to the appeal of deputies of the Duma faction "New People", reports TASS on October 17.

The ministry noted that such a measure would improve the payment discipline of drivers and reduce the number of fines applied to bona fide users.

In September, the deputies announced that they had sent a letter with a proposal to provide drivers with time to pay for parking until 23:59 of the current day, regardless of when the car was parked. Currently, in Moscow, parking payments must be completed within five minutes from the start of using the parking space, in St. Petersburg — 15 minutes. Violation of the deadline can result in a fine of 5,000 rubles for individuals.

In February of this year, the limit on the number of parking sessions that can be fixed in a month was removed from the Parking in Russia mobile application. Previously, a user could fix no more than three sessions per month, but now this number is unlimited. You can make changes to the session once before the end of the current day. According to Maxim Liksutov, Moscow's deputy mayor for Transport, the limit was removed at the request of motorists.

New tariffs for paid parking started operating in St. Petersburg on Wednesday, October 15. The cost now depends not only on the category of transport, but also on the degree of congestion in the parking lot.
