The Finnish parliament has approved stricter rules for obtaining citizenship for migrants living on benefits. This was reported on October 17 by the Yle portal.

"The changes mean that the applicant will be denied a Finnish passport if he relied on social security benefits for more than three months during the previous two—year period," the material says.

According to the resource, the amendment to the law on citizenship means that in the future applicants must prove that they can support themselves through employment or entrepreneurship.

In May, Finland prepared a training program for Ukrainian refugees to become a lumberjack at a vocational college in Saarijärvi. It was clarified that so far the program is experimental in nature, and also involves training Ukrainian workers in the legal specifics of work and occupational safety.
