Assembly of Ural cars may begin in Uganda
An enterprise for the large-scale assembly of Ural cars may be established in Uganda. This was announced on October 17 by Russian Ambassador to Uganda Vladlen Semivolos following the results of the third meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation in Kampala.
"Among the specific projects approved at the meeting, it is worth noting plans by companies from our countries to establish a large—scale assembly plant for Ural cars in Uganda to meet the needs of East African countries," Semivolos was quoted as saying by TASS on October 17.
According to the diplomat, issues of cooperation in the fields of trade, industry, financial and banking sector, energy, agriculture, construction, transport, education, healthcare and others were also discussed at the event. The parties signed the final protocol, which sets out specific areas of trade, investment and industrial cooperation for the foreseeable future.
Earlier, on May 23, it was reported that the Ural Automobile Plant had opened a new building for assembling trucks with increased labor intensity. The opening of the site will increase the total production capacity of the enterprise by more than 5.5 thousand vehicles per year.
