The court sentenced the organizer of the murder of Mayor Dorkin to 10.5 years in a penal colony.

The Moscow Regional Court found Dmitry Lukin, a former coach of the Orbita football club, guilty of organizing the murder of Viktor Dorkin, the former mayor of the Moscow suburb of Dzerzhinsky, in 2006. This was announced on October 17 by a correspondent of Izvestia from the courtroom.

It is specified that Dorkin was sentenced to 10.5 years in prison to serve his sentence in a high-security colony.

Lukin's detention at Vnukovo Airport became known on May 10, 2016. He had been on the federal and international wanted list on suspicion of organizing Dorkin's murder for ten years.

Dorkin was killed late in the evening on March 30, 2006, when he was returning home from a live broadcast on local television. A year later, the Moscow Region Prosecutor's Office completed the investigation. As a result, the perpetrators of the crime, Sergei Bulavin, Igor Zolotenkov and Igor Stolyak, were convicted. The organizer of the murder, Igor Lukin, managed to escape, and he was put on the international wanted list.
