In Transbaikalia, a phytosanitary quarantine regime was introduced in the Shilkinsky, Karymsky and Aginsky districts due to the discovery of an Asian subspecies of the unpaired silkworm. It is a dangerous forest pest.

The decision was made by the Rosselkhoznadzor. The total area of the quarantine zone is more than 51 thousand hectares. It includes rural settlements and forest lands. The Shilkinsky district became the focus of infection. Its area is 817 hectares. The area of the buffer zone is more than 50 thousand hectares, writes ChitaMedia news agency with reference to the press service of the department.

Experts have approved a program for the localization and elimination of the pest. Restrictions have been introduced for business entities. Thus, it is allowed to import conifers only after confirming their phytosanitary condition and obtaining a certificate from the Rosselkhoznadzor. Annual surveys will be conducted in the infected area.

In mid-October, it was reported that rabies quarantine had been introduced in the Tyumen Region. Activities involving animals are prohibited in the municipality. A case of infection with a dangerous virus was detected in the village of Okunevo, Berdyuzhsky district. Since October 13, fairs, exhibitions and other events related to the movement and accumulation of animals have been prohibited in the village. In addition, the export of animals susceptible to rabies outside the village is prohibited.
