In Kovel, Volyn region, in western Ukraine, employees of the Shopping Mall (the Ukrainian equivalent of the military enlistment office) mobilized a priest of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) with many children. This was announced on October 17 by the Union of Orthodox Journalists (UOJ).

"Near his own house, an outfit of the Lutsk Shopping Mall detained a cleric of the UOC church of the Pochaev Icon of the Mother of God in Kovel in Volhynia, Archpriest Vitaly Popka," the union wrote on its Telegram channel.

It is noted that the clergyman has four children, which confirms his right to a postponement from mobilization. According to the UOJ, the man is currently being prepared to be sent to a military training ground.

On August 30, the UOJ reported that in Ukraine, employees of the Shopping mall handed over a summons to a priest who performed the funeral service for a serviceman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). According to the UOJ, Archpriest Vladimir Glavatsky was the rector of the Mikhailovsky community in Piryatin. Now the parish has been left without a priest.
