There have been 287 road accidents in Russia over the past 24 hours.

Over the past day, 287 road accidents have occurred on Russian roads, in which 32 people were killed and 375 injured. This was reported to Izvestia on October 17 by the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

As a result of 104 accidents involving pedestrians, nine people were killed, and 97 more were injured in various degrees of severity. Among the injured are 13 children, eight of whom were injured at pedestrian crossings, five outside the pedestrian crossing. Of the total number of pedestrian incidents, 52 occurred at pedestrian crossings and 52 outside their area of operation.

30 accidents involving minors were registered, as a result of which 33 young road users were injured, including 13 passengers, three cyclists and two motor transport drivers. 16 accidents involving buses were recorded, in which one person was killed and 65 road users required medical assistance. Nine bus accidents were caused by traffic violations by their drivers.

So, in the Amur region, on the 19th kilometer of the highway "Entrance to the city of Svobodny", a 32-year-old bus driver drove into oncoming traffic and collided with a car moving towards him. As a result of the accident, one of the passengers of the bus was killed, 13 passengers ended up in the hospital. 36 more passengers were sent for outpatient treatment after receiving medical care.

The State Traffic Inspectorate drew the attention of drivers that during the change of seasons, before leaving, they should check the technical condition of their vehicle, paying special attention to the serviceability of the braking system, external lighting devices, windscreen wipers, as well as the condition of the tires.

On the eve of the weekend, the department urged motorists to avoid sudden rash maneuvers and realignments, observe the interval and distance between vehicles, and do not exceed the speed limit. External lighting devices must be turned on while driving, fog lights must be used in bad weather, and in conditions of heavy fog, rain or snowfall, reduce speed as much as possible and move with the alarm lights on.

The requirements of markings, road signs, and traffic lights should be taken into account. You should be especially careful when passing intersections. It is important not to rush to start or continue driving when changing traffic lights, be extremely careful and monitor the traffic situation, slow down to a complete stop when approaching pedestrian crossings.

"If you become a participant in an accident, you need to identify the scene, call the traffic police, and if there are victims, an ambulance team. In addition, due to changes in atmospheric pressure, the State Traffic Inspectorate recommends that drivers take more care of their well-being. If you suddenly feel unwell while driving, you should immediately stop the car, call a doctor if necessary, or use public transport services," said Police Colonel Anton Belan, Deputy head of the Department for Road Safety Promotion and Prevention of Child Traffic Injuries at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

Earlier, on October 7, it was reported that from January to September 2025, 7.9 thousand people were registered in Russia. Accidents involving drivers who are intoxicated, which is 12.3% less than in the same period last year. 2.1 thousand people died in such accidents, and more than 10 thousand people were injured (a decrease of 23.5% and 10.6%, respectively).
