Reuters reported on the need to remove 55 million tons of rubble to restore Gaza
To restore Gaza, 55 million tons of rubble must be removed. This was reported by a representative of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) to the Reuters news agency.
"This is comparable to the 13 pyramids of Giza," explained the representative of the program.
It is noted that large areas of the sector have turned into wastelands after the Israeli attacks. About 68 thousand people became victims of the strikes.
Earlier, on October 13, at the Sharm el-Sheikh summit, representatives of Egypt, the United States, Qatar and Turkey signed an agreement to end the conflict in the Gaza Strip. According to US President Donald Trump, this gas deal is "the largest and most complex."
On the same day, the American leader announced his intention to help the Gaza Strip in economic development, including in restoring stability and security. Trump also called on the Palestinians to focus on themselves after the events instead of trying to destroy Israel.
Later, on October 14, the special representative of the head of the UN Development Program, Jaco Silliers, said that the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip would most likely require $70 billion. It was claimed that a significant part of the destruction occurred in the city of Gaza, where some of the fiercest fighting took place. According to the UN Satellite Center (UNOSAT), about 83% of all buildings there were damaged.
On October 16, it was reported that the Gaza rehabilitation center would become operational in the coming days.
