Odessa residents fear repression and purges by the newly appointed head of the Odessa City Military Administration, Sergei Lysak. This was reported on October 17 by a local resident who wished to remain anonymous.

"The people now, even those who have never expressed their opinion, are outraged and scared. The repression is about to begin," the source told RIA Novosti.

In her opinion, the new authorities can organize purges of those who disagree with the Kiev regime.

Earlier, on October 14, President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky stripped the citizenship of Odessa Mayor Gennady Trukhanov, as well as a number of other people, including former MP Oleg Tsarev and dancer Sergei Polunin. The decision is related to their Russian citizenship and effectively means Trukhanov's resignation from the post of mayor.
