The United States attacked a ship in the Caribbean Sea
The US military has launched a new attack on a ship in the Caribbean Sea allegedly carrying drugs. According to data provided by a source to the Reuters news agency on October 17, for the first time there are survivors among the crew members. Details about the number of victims were not reported.
The anonymous official noted that the United States is carrying out such strikes allegedly as part of the fight against drug-terrorist groups from Venezuela.
"Up to this point, all vessels were completely destroyed, and there were no reports of survivors," the source said.
The strikes were carried out against the backdrop of a US military buildup in the Caribbean, including missile destroyers, F-35 fighter jets, a nuclear submarine and about 6.5 thousand troops, amid an escalating confrontation with the Venezuelan government.
Earlier, on October 15, it was reported that the administration of US President Donald Trump could authorize the CIA to conduct "deadly operations" in Venezuela and the Caribbean as part of a campaign of pressure on President Nicolas Maduro. The decision coincided with the build-up of the American military presence in the region, including about 10,000 troops, ships and a submarine.
