On October 16, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic congratulated Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban on organizing talks between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump.
"I spoke tonight with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, whom I congratulated on organizing a major peace meeting between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin. I wished him great success and expressed confidence in the impeccable organization of this historic event," Vucic wrote on the Instagram social network (owned by Meta, which is recognized as extremist in Russia).
Vucic noted that he plans to meet with Viktor Orban in the coming week.
Earlier, on October 16, Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov reported that Budapest was first proposed by Donald Trump as a meeting place with Vladimir Putin, and the Russian president supported the idea. Putin initiated the conversation, starting with Trump's congratulations on the work to normalize the situation in the Gaza Strip. Trump noted that he would take Putin's opinion into account at the upcoming meeting with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky.
Orban announced the country's readiness to hold a summit between Russia and the United States on its territory.
