Russian Energy Minister Sergei Tsivilev and Afghan Minister of Water Resources and Energy Abdul Latif Mansour held talks during which prospects for developing cooperation in the electric power industry were discussed. This was announced on October 16 by the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation in its Telegram channel.

"During the meeting, prospects for the development of cooperation in the field of electric power industry, in particular, the construction of small hydropower plants (hydroelectric power plants. — Ed.)," the message says.

The issue of personnel training for work in the Afghan energy sector was also raised during the negotiations.

In turn, the Afghan side expressed interest in intensifying bilateral cooperation and aiming at intensifying contacts.

Earlier, on October 8, it was reported that political scientist Muhammad Shamsiddinov stated the importance of Russian President Vladimir Putin's visit to Tajikistan for Russian foreign policy. According to the political scientist, Russian companies are actively investing in the most important sectors for Tajikistan, such as transport and logistics infrastructure and energy, including the construction of the Sangtuda-2 hydroelectric power station, which provides 12% of the country's electricity generation.
