In Estonia, it was reported about the closure of the road passing through the territory of the Russian Federation

Traffic on the Vyarska –Saatse highway passing through the territory of Russia is permanently closed. This was announced on October 16 by the press service of the Estonian Cabinet of Ministers on its official website.

"Currently, two sections of the road are closed on site, and, taking into account the risk assessment, it will remain that way. <...> Taking into account the government's decisions, new permanent sections of roads that do not run through Russia will also be built on an accelerated basis next year," said Kristen Michal, the country's prime Minister.

According to the Estonian authorities, the highway could allegedly become a potential tool of Russia, and this measure was taken to ensure the safety of Estonian citizens.

Before next autumn, the authorities plan to build new bypass highways that will not run through Russian territory. €2.69 million was allocated for their design in 2025-2026.
