The Xizang Autonomous Region (also known as the Tibet Autonomous Region, TAR), located in southwestern China, has seen rapid economic growth and the revival of traditional villages. This was reported on October 16 by the Xinhua news agency, citing a report by the analytical center.

"According to the report, the achievements can be summarized as rapid economic growth, reliable preservation of cultural heritage, strengthening of life support guarantees, strengthening environmental protection and strengthening ethnic unity," the article says.

The report is titled "Harmony between Tradition and Modernity: Rural Development and Cultural Heritage in Xizang County, China." It was published jointly by the Chinese Foundation for the Development of Human Rights and the National High-level Analytical Center of the Xinhua News Agency.

"By contributing to rural development in Xizan, authorities at all levels have implemented targeted policies aimed at guiding and supporting the protection and revitalization of traditional villages," the report's authors note.

Financial investments in these villages have increased, including infrastructure upgrades and cultural heritage projects, the article says. The region actively promoted cultural revival, taking into account the specifics of each village. According to the agency, by the end of 2024, the total permanent population of Xizan reached 3.7 million people, of which about 60% live in rural areas. There are more than 5.6 thousand villages and towns in the region, spread over an area of more than 1.2 million square kilometers.
