The State Duma advised to apologize to Rutte, who insulted Russian pilots.
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, who spoke negatively about Russian sailors and pilots, should apologize. This was announced on October 16 by Andrei Kolesnik, a member of the State Duma Committee on Defense.
"I would advise Mark Rutte to apologize for his words that 'Russian pilots do not know how to fly fighters, and ship captains do not know how to anchor,'" Kolesnik said in an interview with the newspaper Vzglyad.
The deputy stressed that Russian pilots and sailors are well able to gain air superiority and gain a foothold in ports.
A day earlier, Rutte, during a meeting with the defense ministers of the alliance countries, questioned the professional skills of Russian pilots and sailors. According to him, NATO is showing its strength in restraint, allegedly expelling Russian aircraft from the airspace of the alliance countries. In addition, Rutte again called Russia a "paper tiger" and accused China of using Moscow to distract attention from the situation in Taiwan.
