- The incidence of chickenpox has decreased threefold in the Jewish Autonomous Region
In 2025, the incidence of chickenpox has tripled in the Jewish Autonomous Region. Preventive vaccinations against the disease are carried out in the region free of charge.
According to Pavel Kopylov, head of the Department of Rospotrebnadzor for the EAO, a little more than 800 people fell ill. For comparison, in 2024, chickenpox was diagnosed in more than 2.5 thousand residents of the region. This is reported by IA EAOmedia. The reduction in morbidity is associated with the active immunization of young residents of the region.
The vaccine for adults and children is purchased at the expense of the regional budget. Since the beginning of 2025, 407 people have been vaccinated, including 399 children. For the entire year 2024, 374 people were vaccinated.
A surge in the incidence of chickenpox is noted in several regions of Russia. Since the beginning of 2025, the number of cases in Yamal has increased by 67%, and in Bashkortostan it has more than doubled.
