- Dmitriev pointed to the loss of more than €1.3 trillion by Europe due to the abandonment of Russian gas.
Europe has lost more than €1.3 trillion due to the abandonment of Russian gas. Kirill Dmitriev, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) and Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for Investment and Economic Cooperation with Foreign Countries, announced this on October 16 during a speech at the plenary session of the Russian Energy Week International Forum (REN).
"Europe's losses from the fact that it is moving away from Russian gas, according to our estimates, amount to more than 1.3 trillion euros," Dmitriev said.
He also noted that the states of the Middle East and Africa are ready to invest in Russian energy projects. According to Dmitriev, Russia, against the background of tariff wars, can provide the reliability and predictability that investors are looking for.
On the same day, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the elites of Western countries, by refusing to service Russian energy equipment, had shown that they were unreliable partners. He also warned that Western energy technologies could become unavailable to Russia at any moment for geopolitical reasons. Restrictions may apply not only to Russian companies, but also to any other energy supplier that the West considers an "inconvenient competitor" or an "uncooperative" country.
