In Africa, they are looking for ways to restore Russia's presence in the region. This was announced on October 16 by the Minister of Energy and Oil Industry of Sudan, Ibrahim Elmutasim, in an interview with Izvestia.
"Now we are looking for ways to restore the Russian presence in Africa. Many countries are especially interested in cooperation with Russia," the minister said.
He noted that he had already held a meeting with his Russian colleagues, in particular, with the Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation Sergey Tsivilev, at which cooperation between the countries in the field of energy, electric power, oil and many other areas was discussed. According to Elmutasim, Sudan receives support and assistance from the Russian Federation.
"We have always been friends, and Russia has always been in Sudan, we have a long history of relations. Russia is very interested in coming to Sudan and helping us," the minister added.
He also stressed that Russia is a leading country in the field of technology and industry.
In April, the Sudanese Ambassador to the Russian Federation, Mohammed Sirraj, said that the republic was striving to develop relations with Russia to the level of a strategic partnership, and the country was counting on Moscow's help in post-war reconstruction. According to him, since the beginning of the armed conflict in the country, Moscow has taken an unequivocal position in favor of the Government of Sudan. Russia supported the legitimate authorities of the country in the international arena by blocking the British draft resolution in the UN Security Council, which could lead to external interference in the internal affairs of Sudan, the diplomat noted.
