Lavrov noted Morocco's attitude towards Russia as a close partner
Morocco considers Russia as its close partner, considering Russia an important player in the international arena, as well as a necessary negotiator. This was stated on October 16 by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov during talks with his Moroccan counterpart Nasser Burita.
"We are paying special attention to today's negotiations, given the difficult situation in the international arena, including the controversial events taking place in your region, in North Africa. And Russia is ready to help resolve problems in these parts of the world together with other interested states," the minister said.
Lavrov stressed that Russia is also ready to contribute to the settlement processes in the Middle East.
During the meeting with his Russian counterpart, the Moroccan Foreign Minister also conveyed greetings to Russian President Vladimir Putin from King Mohammed VI of the country.
Prior to that, on September 9, Lavrov and Burita discussed in a telephone conversation the strengthening of bilateral relations and topical issues on the regional and international agenda. According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, the main focus of the conversation was on further strengthening the traditionally friendly Russian-Moroccan relations in political, trade, economic and other spheres.
