A shipment of fresh imported plums weighing 20.3 tons was detained in the Pskov region. The fruits showed signs of infection with a quarantine facility, the press service of the regional Rosselkhoznadzor administration reported on Thursday, October 16.

The cargo arrived from Moldova at a temporary storage warehouse. The goods were on their way to the recipient from Nizhny Novgorod, the Pskov News feed writes.

The agency's inspectors found brown moniliose rot (Monilinia fructicola) on the drain. The disease affects all terrestrial organs of the plant and spreads rapidly. One affected fruit can infect all the trees in the surrounding gardens.

The presence of the pathogen was confirmed by laboratory tests. They decided to destroy the entire batch in order to prevent the spread of the quarantine facility on the territory of the Eurasian Economic Union.
