Novak expressed confidence in the stability of oil exports from Russia to India
Russia is confident in the stability of oil exports to India and looks forward to continued cooperation in the field of energy supplies. This was announced on October 16 by Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation Alexander Novak.
This is how he commented on the statements of US President Donald Trump, who claimed that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi allegedly assured him that the country would not buy Russian oil.
"We continue to cooperate with our friendly partners. Our energy resource is in demand, it is economically profitable, expedient, and I am confident that our partners will continue to work with us, interact and develop energy cooperation," Novak said.
According to the Deputy Prime Minister, India will continue to cooperate with Russia on the issue of energy resources. He noted that reports about the termination of India's oil purchases appear only in the press and do not reflect the official position of New Delhi. Novak stressed that countries choose their own path.
"We only see the signals in the press. Our partners declare that no one can tell them, and they will choose their own path," the Russian Deputy Prime Minister added.
Indian Foreign Ministry spokesman Randhir Jaiswal, commenting on Trump's words, said that India focuses on the interests of its consumers in the field of energy imports. According to him, India and the United States have been working together for many years to expand energy purchases. As Jaiswal pointed out, the last 10 years have shown the rapid development of this area, which is why the current American administration is interested in deepening energy cooperation between the two countries.
Later, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian noted that the US president was undermining global supply chains by calling on countries to stop buying oil from Russia. Jiang also warned that Beijing will take retaliatory measures against the United States to protect its sovereignty if its rights and interests are affected.
In turn, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov pointed out that Russia focuses primarily on official statements from New Delhi and Beijing regarding reports of an alleged cessation of oil supplies.
