New hybrid crossover Geely EX5 EM-i presented in Russia

Geely has unveiled the EX5 EM-i crossover in Russia, where it will be the first plug-in hybrid in the brand's lineup. On October 16, the Russian representative office of the brand shared details about the characteristics and equipment of the new product.

The Geely EX5 EM-i is based on the GEA (Global Electric Architecture) modular architecture, which the model shares with the EX5 electric crossover, which has been sold in Russia since the beginning of the year. The length of the novelty is 4740 mm with a wheelbase of 2755 mm, and a width of 1905 mm. The luggage compartment volume is 528 liters (2065 liters when the second row seats are folded). Roof rails with a load capacity of 50 kg are installed on the roof.

The parallel-serial hybrid system includes an atmospheric internal combustion engine with a volume of 1.5 liters (99 hp) and a hybrid transmission with an electric motor. The engine has a high thermal efficiency (46.5%) and is paired with an E-DHT transmission. The peak power of the electric motor is 218 hp, and the maximum torque is 262 Nm. Acceleration from zero to "hundred" takes 8.1 seconds. This allows the car to accelerate from a standstill to 100 km/h in just 8.1 seconds.

The lithium-iron-phosphate traction battery is capable of replenishing energy from 30 to 80% in 20 minutes when using fast direct current charging. The power reserve in electric mode is 111 km. In hybrid mode, the maximum range of the car is 943 km, the internal combustion engine can directly drive the front wheels, and also helps replenish the traction battery.

The crossover will be offered in six body colors and two interior color options to choose from. The cabin has a 15.4-inch central screen and a 10.2-inch digital dashboard. An audio system with 16 speakers and a subwoofer is provided, as well as an atmospheric backlight. The systems include frontal collision avoidance, intelligent cruise control, and blind spot monitoring. It is noted that due to the wide range of adjustments, the salon can be transformed into a full-fledged recreation area if desired.

The day before, Geely's Russian representative office admitted that it was aware of complaints from owners of the brand's cars related to incorrect engine operation on some models. However, these cases are isolated and not widespread, the company said.
