There have been 299 road accidents in Russia over the past 24 hours.
Over the past day, 299 road accidents have occurred on Russian roads, in which 27 people were killed and 355 injured. This was reported to Izvestia on October 16 by the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Russian Interior Ministry.
As a result of 103 accidents involving pedestrians, seven people were killed, and 97 more were injured in various degrees of severity. There are 20 children among the injured, 11 of whom were injured at pedestrian crossings and nine outside the pedestrian crossing. Of the total number of pedestrian incidents, 43 occurred at pedestrian crossings and 60 outside their area of operation.
In addition, 43 accidents involving minors were registered, as a result of which 48 young road users were injured, including 21 passengers, three cyclists and two motor vehicle drivers.
22 accidents involving buses were recorded, in which one person was killed, and another 28 road users, including three minors, required medical assistance. The reason for 13 bus accidents was traffic violations by their drivers.
The State Traffic Inspectorate reminded bus drivers that the life and health of their passengers during transportation depends entirely on their driving skills, driving experience, well-being and law-abiding driving behavior.
"You transport people and are responsible for them before the law while they are in the vehicle you are driving. Therefore, always go out well rested and healthy for the work shift, and before leaving for the route, be sure to check the technical condition of the vehicles entrusted to you. When driving in urban conditions, take advantage of the lanes allocated for public transport, and when operating intercity and interregional passenger flights, strictly observe the speed limit and traffic rules allowed for you," said Police Colonel Anton Belan, Deputy Head of the Department for Road Safety Promotion and Prevention of Child Traffic Injuries at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation.
The ministry called for taking into account the requirements of markings, road signs and traffic lights, being extremely careful when passing railway crossings and not rushing to "slip through" them as quickly as possible, thereby creating an emergency situation.
Earlier, on October 7, it was reported that from January to September 2025, 7.9 thousand people were registered in Russia. Accidents involving drivers who are intoxicated, which is 12.3% less than in the same period last year. 2.1 thousand people died in such accidents, and more than 10 thousand people were injured (a decrease of 23.5% and 10.6%, respectively).
