Yulia Mervaezova, the former first Deputy Minister of Construction of the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), has been charged with fraud in concluding government contracts totaling over 4 billion rubles. This was reported on October 16 by RIA Novosti with reference to the case file.
The investigation claims that Mervaezova committed a crime under Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Fraud on an especially large scale").
"By her actions [she] caused property damage in the amount of four billion 126 million 234 thousand 385 rubles 20 kopecks," the materials indicate.
According to investigators, the accused was involved in the withdrawal of funds when concluding state contracts for the construction of facilities in the period 2021-2022, when she held the position of director of JSC Military Construction Company (later renamed JSC Sibirpromgroup).
Mervaezova's defense, in turn, insists that the crimes imputed to her occurred before and after her work in the organization. Vadim Vygulyary, the former head of the Main Military Construction Directorate No. 8, Evgeny Gorbachev, the former head of GUOV JSC of the Ministry of Defense, and Vitaly Prudnikov, the co-founder of Technostroy LLC, are also being investigated in this case.
The Moscow court arrested Mervaezova for a period of two months on September 17 on charges of especially large-scale fraud. It was clarified that she was charged with two episodes of embezzlement.
