A case has been opened in the Krasnoyarsk Territory against a former police officer and a bank employee who are suspected of embezzling payments due to the widow of a participant in a special military operation. This was announced on October 16 by the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation in the Telegram channel.

According to investigators, in October 2024, a district police officer and a bank employee, knowing about the death of a resident of the Kozulsky district, a participant in the SVO, and the payments due to his wife, persuaded the woman to transfer money to them under the guise of a loan.

On January 17, 2025, the victim contacted the bank, where she received cash with the assistance of an employee of a credit institution. She transferred part of these funds in the amount of 2 million rubles to the district police officer.

The policeman used the money received at his discretion, without planning to return it.

The defendants in the case have been detained. A preventive measure in the form of detention was chosen in relation to the former district commissioner.

"Depending on the role and degree of participation of each, they are suspected of committing crimes under Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code (fraud committed using their official position on an especially large scale), Part 5 of Article 33, Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code (complicity in fraud)," the publication clarifies.

The criminal case was initiated on the basis of materials provided by the operational units of the police. Currently, the necessary investigative actions are being carried out, which are aimed at establishing all the circumstances of the crimes committed.

Earlier, on October 9, it was reported that an accountant from the Department of Construction was suspected of fraud in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District. The investigation believes that she stole 2 million rubles aimed at paying salaries.
