Rolls do not belong to the category of healthy or dietary food, as they contain large amounts of fast carbohydrates, fats and calories. She told the Newspaper about this on October 16.Ekaterina Titova, gastroenterologist, senior lecturer at the Department of Pathophysiology and Clinical Pathophysiology at the Institute of Biology and Human Pathology at Pirogov University.

"White ground rice is fast carbohydrates with a high glycemic index. It is often flavored with rice vinegar and sugar. Adding heavy cream cheese, mayonnaise or tempura turns the rolls into a calorie bomb," the doctor explained.

According to Titova, frequent consumption of such dishes can lead to weight gain. One Philadelphia roll contains from 300 to 500 kcal, and a standard set can exceed 1-1.5 thousand kcal, which is more than half of the daily norm.

"Rolls are high—carb, fatty, and high-calorie foods. It can be called useful with a very big stretch. The exception is simple versions of rice, cucumber and nori without sauces and fried additives," the specialist added.

Earlier, on October 9, nutritionist Elvina Binatova reminded that it is important to distinguish between true hunger and the so-called "hunger". She recommended choosing protein foods for evening snacks, such as boiled eggs or omelets, and avoiding fruits, as they enhance the fermentation processes in the intestines.
