The State Duma named the reason for the short May holidays in 2026
In 2026, due to the long New Year holidays, May holidays for Russians will be six days (twice for three days), which is less than a year earlier. Svetlana Bessarab, a member of the State Duma Committee on Labor, Social Policy and Veterans' Affairs, from the United Russia party, told about this on October 16.
"In 2025, we had long May holidays. In 2026, due to the rather long New Year holidays, our May holidays will be: There are three days off on the occasion of May 1, and we will also rest for three days on the occasion of May 9," TASS quoted her as saying.
