- Kiev is faced with a shortage of electricity due to the shutdown of two thermal power plants
There was a shortage of electricity in Kiev due to the shutdown of two thermal power plants, said Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Alexei Kucherenko on October 15.
"If two Kiev thermal power plants fell to zero on Friday, they give out zero electrics. One is 800 megawatts, the second is 540 megawatts, a total of 1300 megawatts have fallen off the system," Kucherenko said on the Novosti TV channel.Live».
The politician added that the city already has problems with electricity generation, so it needs to be supplied from external sources.
Earlier, on September 20, Fatil Birol, Executive Director of the International Energy Agency, warned of a difficult winter for Ukraine due to damage and destruction of a large number of thermal power plants. Lack of energy can seriously affect the work of hospitals, schools and water supply systems, and in Kiev there is a shortage of transformers, network equipment and diesel generators.
