India has started paying for oil from Russia in yuan
India has started paying for Russian oil in Chinese yuan, but the percentage of such payments is still not high. This was announced on October 15 by Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation Alexander Novak.
"I won't tell you a fraction. I know that such calculations (in yuan. — Ed.) have begun. And the percentage is small," RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.
Novak clarified that in most cases, India conducts settlements with Russian oil suppliers in rubles.
On October 2, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the refusal to import oil from Russia would cause India the same damage as secondary US sanctions for the lack of such a solution. The Russian leader added that India and China will not allow themselves to be humiliated, as European countries do.
