The BAIC car brand announced new models for Russia

It is planned to expand the model range of the Chinese brand BAIC in Russia in 2026. The Avtotor plant in the Kaliningrad region is going to launch the production of cars of the brand on a full cycle with welding and painting of bodies, which will achieve the necessary level for participation in federal programs. This is stated in a message from representatives of the brand, which was received by Izvestia on October 15.

Starting from the fourth quarter of this year, the functions of the official distributor of BAIC in Russia will be assumed by JSC "BMR" ("BAIC Motors Rus"). Gazprom-Media Holding has been announced as a strategic partner, which will strengthen its marketing presence and increase brand awareness.

BAIC entered the Russian market in 2023. Currently, the brand's line in Russia includes five models: the U5 Plus sedan, the X55 and X75 midsize crossovers, as well as the BJ40 and BJ60 frame SUVs. All of them are produced at the Avtotor plant in the Kaliningrad region. Details about the models preparing for their debut next year are not specified.

In August, BAIC published price lists for the five-meter BJ60 SUV in Russia. It is equipped with a two-liter diesel engine with a capacity of 163 hp (400 Nm), which is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The power plant of the SUV is implemented using the "soft hybrid" technology.
