Ready-to-eat food sales in micromarkets increased by 17% over the year
Russians are increasingly having lunch on the run — micromarkets are becoming a new alternative to cafes and delivery. Over the year, the average receipt for ready-made food and drinks increased by 17%, reaching 266 rubles. This was reported by Briskly experts to Izvestia on October 16.
Briskly experts analyzed food sales from micromarkets in Moscow. According to data for the first nine months of 2025, compared with the same period in 2024, the average receipt for ready-made food, drinks and snacks increased by 17%. In 2024, it was 227 rubles, and in 2025-266 rubles.
At the same time, in the first nine months of this year, compared to the same period in 2024, sales in micromarkets increased by 7.25% in physical terms, and by 11% in monetary terms.
"The growth in food sales from micromarkets is related to two main factors. First, we are seeing an increase in transactions in lunch offices — they are cheaper than lunch in cafes and food delivery, where you need to pay for delivery, and also save time for lunch — food can be bought in a few seconds. The second is regional expansion: micromarkets are being actively installed throughout Russia, and we see a large flow of openings in regional cities, and in small ones at that. Micromarkets also began to be actively installed in residential complexes," explained Gleb Kharitonov, founder of the Briskly micromarket manufacturing company.
The most popular drinks are bottled water, tea and juice. The ready—to-eat category includes sandwiches, rolls, second courses with meat (cutlets, steaks, pilaf, enchilados, shish kebab, pasta), as well as salads (Olivier, Caesar, Greek, Herring under a fur coat, Vitamin, Arugula salad,Funchosa").
Earlier, on July 4, Izvestia got acquainted with a study by Röndell, where it was reported that Russians began to abandon food delivery in favor of self-cooking. According to the survey, 35% of respondents noted that they have recently become more likely to cook at home, and 20% try to visit catering establishments less often.
