In Moscow, the number of accidents with SIM decreased by 44%
During the period from January to September of this year, accidents involving personal mobility equipment (SIM) decreased in Moscow. This was announced by the Moscow State Traffic Inspectorate in its Telegram channel on October 15.
So, for nine months in Moscow, 731 accidents involving SIM were recorded, in which six people were killed and 760 injured. The number of such road accidents decreased by 44.2%, and the number of deaths and injuries in them decreased by 53.8% and 44.7%, respectively.
The agency called on SIM users not to interfere with movement in pedestrian areas, rent scooters only after reaching the age of 18 and verification via Mos ID, dismount in front of pedestrian crossings, and also use protective equipment and take into account that only one person can be on one scooter.
In turn, the Moscow Department of Transport drew attention to the fact that the number of accidents with SIM decreased with an increase in the number of trips over the reporting period by 3 million. It is noted that since the start of the rental season, more than 76 thousand accounts have been blocked that have not passed age verification.
Earlier, on October 11, Svetlana Bessarab, a member of the State Duma Committee on Labor, Social Policy and Veterans' Affairs, in an interview with Izvestia, proposed tougher penalties for violators of the rules of using scooters. In her opinion, cases when scooters move at high speed among cars without using protective equipment such as helmets and knee pads are especially dangerous.
