Sudan and Russian companies are making progress in negotiations on the exploration, production and development of oil fields. This was announced to Izvestia on October 15 by the Minister of Energy and Oil Industry of Sudan, Al-Muatasim Ibrahim.

"Yes, there is progress and certain agreements have been reached. During the visit, we will sign a number of agreements. Russian companies are helping us in the exploration, production and development of oil fields," the minister told the publication on the sidelines of the Russian Energy Week International Forum.

According to him, we are talking about specific projects and sites, including oil production areas, modernization of existing fields and the development of new promising areas.

On September 27, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Sudan Kamil Idris discussed the military-political crisis in the republic within the framework of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly in New York. It was noted from the Russian side that it is necessary to cease hostilities in the near future and start a broad national dialogue. Various issues related to the further development of traditionally friendly Russian-Sudanese relations were also discussed.
