- More than 12 thousand cubic meters of silt were lifted from the bottom of the Utroya River in Pytalovo
In the Pytalovsky municipal district in the Pskov region, the Utroya riverbed is being cleared. The work is funded by a subvention from the federal budget. This year, 9.5 million rubles were allocated for these purposes.
According to the Pskov news feed with reference to the press service of the regional government, by now more than 12 thousand cubic meters of silty sediments have been lifted from the bottom of the reservoir. Excavators are clearing the riverbed of accumulated debris and excess vegetation. This is necessary to reduce the pollution of the river, increase the supply of water to the population and improve the condition of the hydrographic network.
The regional Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology said that the project is designed for three years. It is necessary to clear 3.5 km of the river. The contract value is 16.5 million rubles. The contractor plans to complete the planned work in 2026.
According to Vera Kondratieva, the head of the Pytalovsky municipal District, the water level tripled significantly during prolonged intense rainfall in August 2017. As a result, streets and residential buildings were flooded in the city. To prevent a similar situation from happening again, the municipality petitioned for the need to clear the riverbed. This should, among other things, improve the environment in the future, restoring the river's ability to heal itself.
Earlier it was reported that about 570 million rubles were allocated for the conservation of forests and unique water bodies of the Pskov region during the operation of the Ecology national project. All planned activities and indicators have been implemented in full.
