- Germany reported an increase in the number of young Ukrainians after the opening of borders
The number of young Ukrainians in Germany has increased tenfold after Kiev allowed people aged 18-22 to leave the country. This was reported on October 15 by the newspaper Die Welt.
According to the German Interior Ministry, the number of weekly asylum applications has increased to 1,000, while before the exit permit there were about 100 per week.
Also, from the end of spring to the beginning of autumn, the total number of Ukrainians in the country also increased. In May, 7.9 thousand Ukrainians received asylum in the country, in August — 11.2 thousand, and in September — 18.7 thousand.
On August 26, the Government of Ukraine adopted a decree allowing Ukrainians between the ages of 18 and 22 to cross the state border without hindrance. On August 28, a representative of the State Border Service of Ukraine, Andriy Demchenko, reported that Ukrainian citizens aged 18 to 22 had begun to leave the country since the beginning of the decree.
Verkhovna Rada deputy Roman Kostenko said that permission to cross the border for military personnel aged 18 to 22 negatively affects the process of mobilization in the country and worsens the situation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).
