83 years later, the court declared the missing WWII soldier dead.
In 2025, a court in the Tambov region declared dead Nikifor Konobeev, a participant in the Great Patriotic War (WWII) who disappeared in 1942. This follows from the court materials reviewed by RIA Novosti.
It is noted that the lawsuit was filed by the prosecutor of the Nikiforovsky district.
Nikifor Mikhailovich Konobeev, born on February 9, 1914 in the village of Yaroslavka, Nikiforovsky district, was drafted to the front in 1941. In February 1942, he went missing, as indicated in the case file.
The lawsuit emphasized that there was still no information about Konobeyev's fate, and "the difficult situation on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War did not allow us to accurately determine the fate of some servicemen, so they were considered missing."
"Declaring this person dead is an act of respect for the heroic deeds of those who sacrificed their lives in the name of freedom and independence of the Motherland, as well as part of the process of preserving historical truth and memory of the events of the past," the prosecutor said.
The Nikiforovsky District Court granted the prosecutor's statement in the interests of the Russian Federation and declared Konobeev dead.
In July, in the Sverdlovsk region, the Ural Bank for Reconstruction and Development (UBRiR) recognized a Russian resident living in another region of the country as deceased. According to the bank, the woman allegedly died in August last year, and the loan in her name was issued a year earlier, when she herself was in another region and could not sign the necessary documents.
