In Primorsky Krai, criminal investigation officers seized more than 43 kg of marijuana from a 59-year-old resident of the village of Galenka. This was reported on October 15 in the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the region.

During the operational measures, the police found a large batch of plant-based substances in the man's possession. The examination confirmed that it was cannabis. According to the detainee, he independently harvested and dried Manchurian cannabis, knowing about the ban on drug trafficking.

"A criminal case has been opened on the fact of illegal possession of narcotic drugs on an especially large scale under part 2 of Article 228 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation," the department said.

The maximum penalty under the article is up to ten years in prison. The investigation is ongoing.

Earlier, on September 24, a criminal case was opened in Novosibirsk against a 41-year-old woman who persuaded her nine-year-old son to use drugs. After the incident, the child was hospitalized and received the necessary medical care.
