US President Donald Trump said that the countries allegedly began to leave the BRICS association after Washington threatened to impose duties on all products supplied from these countries. This was announced on October 14 by the American leader at a meeting with Argentine President Javier Miley at the White House.

According to Trump, the warning about possible trade measures forced the countries to reconsider their participation in the association.

"BRICS was an attack on the dollar, and I said: if you want to play this game, I will impose duties on all your products. After that, they decided to leave," the president said.

The American leader stressed that Washington's actions are aimed at protecting the dollar and the national economy.

Earlier, on September 9, Anatoly Aksakov, head of the State Duma's financial market committee, said that severing trade relations with the United States would negatively affect global pricing.
