US President Donald Trump has posthumously awarded his colleague, conservative activist Charlie Kirk, the presidential Medal. This became known on October 15 from the broadcast of the event from the Forbes Breaking News White House.

The widow of activist Erica Kirk received the Presidential Medal of Freedom from Trump's hands.

Earlier, the American leader said that he would consider naming a small location in the White House in Kirk's honor.

Kirk died on September 10 as a result of an assassination attempt committed at the time of his speech at the University of Utah. He played a key role in Trump's victory in the 2024 presidential election.

On September 16, suspect Tyler Robinson was formally charged with capital murder, intentionally or knowingly causing Kirk's death in circumstances that pose a significant risk of death to others. The next day, he appeared in court for the first time via video link and spoke only once — when he was asked to introduce himself.
