The United States began to look for ways to stop buying oil from China
The US administration is exploring the possibility of restricting imports of edible oil and other goods from China. Such a measure is being considered in response to China's refusal to purchase American soybeans. On October 13, US President Donald Trump wrote about this in Truth Social.
"I believe that China's deliberate refusal to buy our soybeans, which creates difficulties for our farmers, is an act of economic hostility. As a retaliatory measure, we are considering the possibility of ending trade with China in edible oil and other goods," the publication says.
At the same time, Trump noted that the United States has sufficient capabilities for its own production of edible oil and does not depend on its purchases from China.
Earlier, on October 10, Trump announced the readiness of the United States to impose increased duties on goods from China in response to Beijing's decision to restrict exports of rare earths. According to the American leader, China is "holding the world hostage" by creating a monopoly on the market of magnets and other metals. He promised to take financial measures.
