Scientists have warned of record-breaking solar flares on October 15.
A record amount of plasma has been sent to Earth over the past 2-3 months due to increased solar activity. This was announced on October 14 by the Laboratory of Solar Astronomy at the Institute of Space Research (IKI) of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
"Outbreaks are expected to peak tomorrow. Records will be broken — so far two or three months," the laboratory's Telegram channel says.
Scientists have noted that solar plasma is already being ejected from the surface of the star in huge quantities, but so far these flares are not powerful enough to reach the surface of the Earth.
On October 14, scientists reported that one of the largest prominences observed this year had broken away from the Sun. Its trajectory will pass between Mercury and Earth, while the planets should not fall into the impact zone, experts said.
