Culverts on Trans-Baikal highways are being repaired in a new way

In Transbaikalia, culverts began to be repaired using a new method — by installing a light-polymer-fabric sleeve. Work is underway on the federal highways R-258 Baikal and R-297 Amur, the press service of the regional Administration reports.

Ten reinforced concrete pipes are subject to renovation, five of them have already been restored. The innovative method allows you to repair a worn-out area without dismantling the old one. It also does not require stopping traffic and building a bypass road.

Specialists sanitize the pipe using a light-polymer-fabric sleeve, which creates a solid shell inside. Further, the material hardens under the influence of ultraviolet lamps, writes ChitaMedia news agency.

This method ensures a tight fit of the sleeve to the inner surface of the pipe. Due to this, the structure is protected from damage, moisture and flooding after a flood, which maintains its throughput and operational qualities.

Earlier it was reported that regional roads in Transbaikalia began to be marked using new technology. Special paint and cold plastic are used for this purpose.
