In Apatity (Murmansk region), a woman opened her parents' safe and transferred almost 12.5 million rubles to fraudsters. A criminal case has been opened on this fact.
According to a 26-year-old Northerner, she received a call from a stranger who introduced himself as a delivery service employee. He said that a bouquet was allegedly decorated in the name of the woman, and in order to receive it, you need to provide a code from an SMS message. Then the scammers convinced the victim that a foreigner allegedly got access to her account on the Gosuslugi portal because of the received code. The Bi-port news agency writes about this.
The woman agreed to video chat, she showed me her apartment. As well as the parents' housing. The scammers noticed a safe in the relatives' apartment. The victim, not knowing the code from the safe, called the master for opening.
After a long conversation, the criminals persuaded the woman to transfer her and her parents' savings to other accounts. The woman made 22 transactions.
The police are conducting an investigation into the incident.
In St. Petersburg, a 79-year-old pensioner handed over more than 3.9 million rubles to fraudsters. The scammers presented themselves as employees of the management company and law enforcement agencies.
